Rosie's Roost
We were enjoying dinner one night when Rosie asked if she could get some laying hens. Well, when you're a chicken farmer and your 4 year old excitedly asks to get her own birds, you sit down and talk logistics. We discussed coop designs, best practices, breed choices and of course business names! This is where Rosie's Roost was born!

Our Goals and Practices
The main purpose of Rosie's Roost is to provide good, healthful eggs to our amazing community of local food eaters. As we began planning, we realized that there can be so much more to this project than just eggs. We see this as an opportunity to teach Rosie good business practices, money handling, ethics and we discovered a hidden bonus! Philanthropy! More on this below...
The practices we use for raising our egg layers align with our meat birds. We raise them on pasture, moved every few days to fresh pasture, ranged on ample grass, protected by fencing from predators. Our girls only eat the best organic certified feed from Green Mountain Feeds and are never exposed to any pesticides, herbicides or antibiotics. Check out our Instagram feed on the home page for some great photos of our farm!
Our Bonus Gift!
Philanthropy...
You're probably wondering what this could possibly do with a kiddo raising some pasture raised eggs.
Well, we have a super cool kid who just so happen to be born with a very special heart. She was born with a VSD and needed a repair in 2025. She made it through surgery perfectly and is growing faster than a chicken on pasture ;)
With this being her egg project, we wanted to find a way to connect it both to Rosie and to all of the other special kiddos out there who needed a little extra love given to their hearts. This is why 10% of our Rosie's Roost profits will be heading over to local Congenital Heart Disease charities. We will be working with Dartmouth's CHaD cardiology team to find local charities where this money will be most appreciated.
We are so excited about this part of our egg project and can't express our appreciation for all of you who are helping to make this possible.
From the bottoms of our hearts,
Thank you!
The Rosie's Roost team
